BARRIE

The Hook mixtape is compiled through a series of music related questions. Each artist who fills it out can answer as many or as few of the questions as they wish, and elaborate on their choices, or let them speak for themselves.

Press Clippings

“listening brings me very viscerally back to awkward high school dances: the synths shimmer like disco ball lights reflecting off foil decorations, and the hazy vocals cast a romantic film over everything. ” - The Fader

Kevin Krauter’s album Toss Up

The soundtrack to your last holiday

The last holiday I went on was tour, and I kept staring out the window listening to Siren 042 by Lala Lala and WHY? on a loop, it's so beautiful

A song which has changed your mind

That’s a cool question… I think all songs have shaped my mind in one way or another. For whatever reason the one that’s coming up now is the Chainsmokers, that song Closer. It’s super catchy. But a few years ago I was in LA trying to decide if I should move there, and that song was everywhere. When I got home it came on and I realized it epitomized how I felt about LA and I suddenly knew I wasn’t moving there. But more important, Reckoner changed my mind about Radiohead -- that one was my way in.

A song which makes you cry

I Remember by Molly Drake, it's so pure.

An album you know by heart

A cover which is better than the original

Okay Kaya released a really pretty cover of Believe by Cher, I'm really into that one.

A song you first heard on a film soundtrack
